WHY BUY A TICKET?

This fun-filled evening of theatrical and musical entertainment, food, and drink will directly support Theatre Baddeck's continued presence on Cape Breton Island. Since 2015, we have provided high-quality entertainment for 7,500 patrons from across North America and around the world. Tourists call our shows "the highlight of their maritime vacation" and locals like you say "they look forward to evenings out at Theatre Baddeck." We are delighted to be an economic driver in Victoria County through tourism spending and to provide cultural value to Baddeck and area through exceptional storytelling.

In short: we love theatre and are passionate about its ability to enrich communities. We are encouraged by how our product is enriching Baddeck and Cape Breton Island. However, like any professional theatre, we cannot survive on ticket revenue alone. We hope that this event - and all future fundraisers - will ensure that we can continue to produce high-quality theatre in this region for many years to come. We look forward to seeing you all there!

ABOUT THE MOLLYCODDLERS BY JOHN CORRIGAN

It's 1840 and Stanley, a hard-working farmer, decides that working for someone else is getting him nowhere. He has a daring, yet potentially dangerous plan to change all that - pirating on the Bras D'Or Lakes! He arranges a secret meeting with his pal, Ed, to discuss the exciting plan. Ed, too enthusiastic about the prospects, cannot keep it a secret. Soon, a whole cast of wannabe pirates have crashed the meeting. Stanley's plan quickly spirals out of control as he attempts to organize the motley crew and carry out the raid. There’s adventure and action, prisoners are taken, treasure is captured, and nothing goes as planned. Oh! And did we mention that they are singing pirates?

This hilarious and zany comedy will be performed as a staged reading at our winter bash and the cast will include Theatre Baddeck favourites and local performers! This performance will begin about 7:45pm. Each Act will be interspersed with both silent and live auctions of works of art and art experiences, music and local wine and beer tastings.
